Newsletter July 2015

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

This is the official newsletter of Saint George Catholic Church, the newest Catholic Church in Springfield Missouri. We are a Roman Catholic Community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, working in cooperation with the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau.

We have a new website! It can be found at: SaintGeorgeNet.com. Please bookmark it and share it with your family and friends.

Mark your calendars! Our next Divine Worship mass will be celebrated on Saturday evening, July 25, at 7:30pm. It will be held in the prayer chapel at Immaculate Conception Church in Springfield Missouri. Fr. Kenneth Bolin will preside. This mass is a vigil mass and will meet the Sunday obligation for all Roman Catholics.

Catechises and RCIA will begin this fall for those seeking to enter the Catholic Church. Dates and times to be announced.

Wishing everyone a happy Independence Day this week!

Major Announcement - Name Change

It is with great pleasure I announce to you today that the Ordinariate has approved for our Springfield group a patron saint and a new name.

Henceforward, the Anglican Ordinariate Society of Springfield Missouri shall be known as....

'St. George Catholic Church'

We shall also have a subtitle...
'A Catholic Community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter.'

Our patron saint is St. George the Martyr, who's feast is on April 23 and who's colour is red. Our listing on the Ordinariate website will soon be updated, and I will be working on our new website over the upcoming weeks.

It is important to note that even though the title 'church' is used in our name, we are not yet a parish, which is why the word 'community' instead of 'parish' is used in the subtitle. We are still awaiting a regular priest to be assigned to us, and we still have a long way to go toward that end. However, we are encouraged by Houston to continue to grow. This name change marks a milestone in the life of our group, and it signals a major step forward. Please share the good news!

Also, please pass this along as well. We will be celebrating our fourth quarterly mass according to Divine Worship on July 25 at 7:30pm in the prayer chapel at Immaculate Conception Church in Springfield.

TRADITIONAL ENGLISH MASS in Springfield

Please share and spread the word...

If you're in the Springfield Missouri area, or know somebody who is, come to a TRADITIONAL Divine Worship mass at Immaculate Conception Church on January 3rd, Saturday evening at 7:30pm. Mass will be in the prayer chapel. Confessions will be in the main chapel at 7pm.

This mass is according to the Ordinariate Form, and comes from the Vatican approved Book of Divine Worship. It has many similarities to the old Latin mass (Extraordinary Form) except it is celebrated entirely in high church English. It is a beautiful liturgy that every Catholic will enjoy. Yes, this will meet your Sunday obligation too. Please come and bring a friend.
